China has a tradition of New Year posters. They depict boys and girls, yin and yang, harmony for the coming year. The Chinese New Year symbols are full of references to good luck and wealth. They exist in many versions. In this case the girl on the right hand side holds  a golden banner saying '万事如意' which means 'the ten thousand things according to wish' or 'May everything be according to your wishes'. The boy on the left hand side holds a banner saying '五福临门' which means 'May the five wealths be bestowed onto your door' or "May your family know prosperity and fortune'.
