All over China a range of Buddhist caves can be found, such as Bezeklik, Longmen, Dazu and many more. Most of them date back to the Northern Wei (386-534) and Tang dynasty (618-607). It is amazing to see there has been a cross fertilization of Hellenist, Indian, Chinese and other Middle Eastern cultures in the stone carving and wall paintings in the sometimes kilometers long complexes.
