double dragon festival

Two days ago, on the fifth of the fifth month of the Lunar Calendar, China celebrated the traditional Dragon Boat Festival in commemoration of poet Qu Yuan who jumped into the river to react against corrupt officials in the 4^th Century BC during the Warring States Period in China.

That gave us - ChinaConduct and ChESS - inspiration to organize the Double Dragon Festival.

We celebrated at the Belfry of Ghent, a historical building with a golden dragon on top of it. Our Double Dragon festival linked the western dragon on top of the Belfry with the Chinese dragonfestival. Instead of taking the boat, we took the stairs to climb up high into the sky up to the dragon, and we drank golden dragon beer and had Chinese bites.

We were honored to have Dr. Xiang Shihai 向世海博士 counselor of Culture, Science and Technology at the Chinese Embassy in Brussels with us, and we were very happy that a hundred people participated in the joy of our event.
